Oh my gosh - I made these last night for supper, and yes, you CAN make these in your Crockpot .... but I used the microwave - I was just in that kind of move ...
Ingredients
Corn chips - I have just plain tortilla corn chips, but any brand will due (mine came in a box wihich had 2 HUGE bags in it from Sam's Club - cheap but yummy)
Cheese - shredded is preferred, but all I could find at the time were blocks, so I chopped off some thin slices and broke then up. It worked out fine.
You might also want something that will string, my son found us some mozzerella after I had already crumbled the Colby-Jack ...
Veg - now this is whatever type of veggies you like on your nachos ... so tomatoes, onions, green peppers, olives, celery (maybe that's just me), whatever you like ... even broccoli is good if its bite-sized.
Turkey - that's why I called it "Gobble Up" Nachoes .... Turkey is a great meat for this type of thing, especially if it's a tad dry - you won't even notice!
CROCKER VERSION
Layer the ingredients, like a lasagne ... being sure to end wih a cheese layer on top.
And turn the pot on - it doesn't mater if it's on High or Low - it's done when the cheese melts all the way throughout.
I do suggest that if you are going to cook this for a long time, that the bottome layer NOT be the chips though - they might scorch.
MICROWAVE METHOD
Place a bunch of chips on your plate.
Add some cheese
Add your toppings
add another layer of cheese
Microwave on HIGH for about 2 minutes.
Be careful, your plate may be hot!
I topped mine with some salsa ... YUM
I do not usually like tomato products with my birds ... I run into this everytime I think I want Chicken Cacciatore - it always seems like a great idea, until I get that combination in my mouth.
But this was really good!!!
============
Wait for a new recipe tomorrow!
Not quite sure what it will be yet though
